Jason Hyatt is a senior energy management engineer for the Business Energy Management department at Puget Sound Energy (PSE). He is responsible for PSE’s commissioning programs, ensuring they contribute to PSE’s aspirational goal of lowering its carbon emissions to net zero by 2045 while helping others do the same. PSE’s commissioning programs offer training and incentives to help customers maximize their energy-saving potential within their building’s existing systems with low- and no-cost efficiency opportunities. Jason joined PSE in 2006 and has held several roles at the company, helping customers develop and implement cost-effective energy projects. He currently develops and manages performance-based programs, including building controls upgrades, along with three commissioning-based programs: Existing Building Commissioning, Monitoring Based Commissioning and Building Tune-ups. Jason is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering management, and is accredited by the Association of Energy Engineers as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) and a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP®). He is married and lives with his wife and their 3-year-old Labrador in Shoreline, Washington.

Data in Context
Almost all buildings have the capability to generate volumes of operational data and many also deploy fault detection technology to alert operators of problems. Unfortunately, too often there isn’t sufficient context for that fault to properly diagnosis causation or what solutions to deploy to fix it. This condition can be particularly problematic for building owners and managers that don’t have the in-house expertise often found at enterprise scale entities. For these managers, the challenge is to find the right resources to put their operational data into context and do so affordably. This session will explore examples of how to put affordable solutions in place to properly put data in context.
