Opening Plenary – The Market Opportunity for Smart Buildings
The opening plenary session features Darlene Pope, President of Planon, North America, who is a globally recognized subject matter expert and visionary in the smart building industry with more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, technology, and smart building consulting.
Vendor Breakout Rooms (virtual)
Conference sponsors will be available for informal discussion in separate breakout rooms. You can ask questions, get information, and introduce yourself to key team members.
Grid-interactive Efficient Buildings (GEBs)
Building System Interoperability
Disparate building system technologies, lack of consistent nomenclature, and organizational dissonance between OT & IT all create impediments to using/optimizing smart technology. Two case studies will explore how these challenges are being met followed by a wider SME panel in moderated discussion.
Demystifying Digital Twin Technology
Digital twin technology may be most commonly thought of in its building visualization form. Moreover, the impression is often that it is exclusive to new, high-end development projects. This session will peel back the basics of digital twin and how it can be utilized to optimize building performance and operations in both new and existing buildings.
Making Existing Buildings Smarter
Smart technology is not limited to new construction. Existing buildings can deploy (or better utilize) smart tech/practices that optimize operations, improve indoor air quality, reduce carbon, and improve resiliency. Two to three case studies will be presented followed by additional SME panel participants in moderated discussion.
Plenary session – Senior Executives Discuss the Future of Energy Services and the Built Environment
Both the utility and real estate industries are undergoing change from market and regulatory forces. This moderated panel will discuss those changes and how senior executives view the new relationships between energy providers and the built environment.
Vendor Breakout Rooms (virtual)
Conference sponsors will be available for informal discussion in separate breakout rooms. You can ask questions, get information, and introduce yourself to key team members.
Role of Smart Buildings in Reducing Carbon Emissions
This session will feature two case studies of C/I buildings that deploy smart tech/practices resulting in demonstrated carbon emission reductions. Additional SMEs will join in a moderated discussion of carbon reduction and the role smart technology can play.
Buildings are Getting Smarter – Workforce Development Opportunities
The scale of smart technology adoption hinges in part on a sufficiently capable workforce. This session will highlight initiatives addressing the need for skilled facilities professionals and building operators to run complex, smart, connected, high performing buildings. Panelists will discuss opportunities to improve workforce diversity through initiatives that address barriers to entry and strengthen pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and training programs to help connect participants to high-quality building operations and maintenance careers.
Return to Work – Achieving and Maintaining Indoor Environmental Quality
As employees return to work, there are increased expectations concerning a healthy indoor environment. Two case studies will explore how smart, data-driven approaches to IEQ are providing for demonstrated and persistent improvement in IEQ. The session will explore how rating systems can contribute, and a wider group of SMEs will join in a moderated discussion.
Data Analytics – Making Smart Actionable
Building data becomes actionable when good analytics are applied and made useful to facility managers/operators. This session will have two case study presentations which demonstrate this followed by a larger SME moderated panel.
Building Performance Reporting – How Smart Technology Can Help
Market and regulatory drivers are making energy performance reporting and ESG reporting real for building owners and publicly traded companies. This session will show how smart technologies can facilitate reporting and make it more quantitively robust. Additional programming will be available after this session in many areas. More details are forthcoming.
