Gary Shaver is the President and Managing Director NA for Envelon Corporation with its office located in Edmonds, Washington. Envelon is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Grenzebach Envelon GmbH, a German manufacturer of architectural solar PV facades focused on the electrification of buildings, which in turn is part of the global Grenzebach Group, both of which are located in Bavaria, Germany. Gary has a multi-faceted background in the cleantech space, spanning innovative business and technology development, leadership of startups and turnarounds, and operations. His areas of experience include PV, BIPV, solar thermal, electrified transportation, and advanced material development from PV recycling. Gary is driven to develop and execute innovative climate solutions globally, which has given him experience in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. He has an undergraduate degree in Biology, Master of International Business , and a Juris Doctorate.

Buildings are changing as they meet the challenge of net zero carbon emissions. Some buildings are positioned to deploy solar arrays and most buildings are and will be adapting to a vehicle fleet that is increasingly electric – and needing to be charged while parked. This session will explore case studies of building owners who are embracing these changes and how smart technologies are helping them with the transition including the huge challenge of integrating EV charging and what it means for electrical service size for electrical and grid-interactive capabilities.
