As the Assistant Director for Asset Management at Western Washington University, Greg monitors the facility condition of the campus built environment. A licensed architect, he brings 34 years of experience to the role. The last 18 years have been at WWU, a public university located in Bellingham, WA, serving 16,000 FTE students with 3.5 million square feet of built space. Prior to becoming Assistant Director, Greg also served as the Facilities Quality Assurance Coordinator and the Campus Utility Manager. His current duties include managing the Central Steam Plant which serves 90% of the buildings on campus, supplying both space heating and domestic hot water. The plant operates continuously and has a peak demand of 70,000 pounds per hour, delivered by an array of 5 boilers varying in age from 28 to 81 years. The distribution network is via 3.5 miles of walkable tunnels and shallow trenches. Outside his day job, Greg’s favorite pastimes are hiking, cross country skiing and sea kayaking.
